Tax Relief & Fiscal Discipline
Stop Punishing Work and Rewarding Waste
Americans are not overtaxed because they earn too much. They are overtaxed because Washington spends too much.
Idaho families work, save, and build—only to see more of their income taken through taxes, inflation, and hidden costs created by federal policy. The problem is not a lack of revenue. It is a lack of discipline.
When government grows beyond its constitutional limits, it demands more money, creates more debt, and shifts the burden onto working people.
I am running to restore fiscal discipline, reduce the tax burden, and protect the value of what Idaho families earn.
What Is Driving the Problem?
Excessive Federal Spending
Washington spends far beyond its means, funding programs that are duplicative, inefficient, or outside its proper role. This drives deficits and creates constant pressure for higher taxes.
Debt and Interest Payments
The national debt is no longer theoretical. Rising interest payments are consuming a growing share of the federal budget, crowding out essential functions and increasing long-term risk.
Inflation as a Hidden Tax
When the government finances spending through debt and monetary expansion, it reduces the purchasing power of every dollar. Inflation is taxation without a vote.
Complex and Distorting Tax Policy
The federal tax code is overly complex, filled with carve-outs, incentives, and loopholes that distort economic behavior and advantage those with access to accountants and political influence.
Why It Matters to Idaho
Idaho families feel the effects of federal fiscal policy every day.
Higher taxes reduce take-home pay. Inflation raises the cost of food, housing, fuel, and healthcare. Federal debt threatens long-term economic stability and the future our children will inherit.
For small businesses, farmers, and working families, the combination of taxes, inflation, and regulatory costs makes it harder to grow, invest, and plan for the future.
Fiscal irresponsibility in Washington becomes financial pressure in Idaho.
My Approach
Fiscal discipline is not optional. It is the foundation of a stable economy and a free society.
The federal government must return to its constitutional role, reduce unnecessary spending, and stop using debt and inflation to fund expansion.
Tax policy should be simple, transparent, and designed to reward work, savings, and production—not complexity and political access.
Policy Priorities
Cut Wasteful Spending
I will support efforts to eliminate duplicative programs, reduce administrative bloat, and ensure taxpayer dollars are used efficiently and within constitutional limits.
Oppose Reckless Deficit Spending
I will oppose omnibus bills, last-minute spending packages, and budget practices that avoid accountability and increase long-term debt.
Simplify the Tax Code
Americans should be able to understand their tax obligations without navigating thousands of pages of rules. I support simplifying the tax system and reducing distortions.
Reduce the Tax Burden on Working Families
Tax policy should allow families to keep more of what they earn. I will support measures that reduce unnecessary taxation and promote economic growth.
Confront the Debt Crisis
The national debt must be addressed through spending restraint, not higher taxes alone. Ignoring it will only make the problem worse.
Day One Priorities
In the Senate, I will support legislation and oversight to:
- Cut waste, fraud, and duplicative federal spending
- Oppose new spending that is not offset or justified within constitutional limits
- Increase transparency in federal budgeting and spending
- Challenge policies that use inflation as a substitute for taxation
- Work toward a simpler, more transparent tax system
Bottom Line
You cannot tax, borrow, and inflate your way to prosperity.
When Washington spends without limits, Idaho families pay the price—through taxes, inflation, and lost opportunity.
Fiscal discipline is how we restore stability, protect the value of work, and secure the future for the next generation.
